As For Europe

12 July 2008, 03:48

Europe doesn’t exist.

Apart from a few curly lines on the map. And even they are debated, if they are not shorelines. Where does Eastern Europe end?

Europeans certainly do not exist. As there is no European Empire (anymore or yet) or Kingdom or Republic, it can boast no subjects or citizens. Most assuredly supporters of Europe are to be found in all the nations between the Ural and the Atlantic, and most of its residents do not object to not having to show their passport at borders, or not having to change currency at most. But as the memory of the last European Conflict dies away and is overshadowed by more recent ones further away that seem more ferocious, but aren’t, the popular support for the European Cause is lower than ever.

For reasons that are as yet unexplained there is an extraordinary consensus among most European politicians however, that is fundamentally undemocratic. And that is, that furthering the European Cause is bon ton in politics. Against the tide, against the apathy, against even the direct will of the majority of the people; for Europe must be, whatever the cost.

This is not new in itself. The continent where democracy was invented and discarded more than once, has been “one” before. But never for long, and it ever took more effort to untangle the Roman, French, German or Russian “unity”, than to create it.

But this time, the basis is different. It is not the result of some ‘unbalanced’ power, some nation that technically and militarily outgrows its neighbours. It is a power that is stronger than any poll box, stronger than any revolution or army, it is political will. And powered not by popular mandate, which will always be divided. That “power” is as yet unexplained.

European unity has always been almost like a contradiction in terms. The division, the balance, (the treaties in pre-WW I terms), seems to have been the most significant feature of European history. It probably worked because deep rooted thinking-systems were compatible.
Christianity has defined Europe from early Medieval times as the Arab Nation was defined by Islam. And of course that which united Europe also divided it, from the Western and Eastern Roman Empire, to the Reformation.

This is all the more clear if one notices the wholy anti-christian character of the ‘unitiy uprisings’: The French revolution and later Napoleon was revolutionary not just for overthrowing the king, the Nazis turned violantly against the Jews physically and against christian teaching, Marxism of course said religion in general was the opiate of the people. And they were all overcome by the ‘older’ states, that kept the link with the christian past.

The common enemy of the current political will seems to be precisely that christian thinking-system. The values of biblical reasoning, that laid the basis of modern science and for all values hold high and dear for ages. It is striking that Europeans, who differ on everything, have a Council, that was united on condemning and attacking the teaching of a Creation of the world in 6 days, in schools. Now, I would be offended if I were a die-hard evolutionist aboard The Beagle to hear that my theories can only be upheld if protected by European State Decree. Isn’t it extraordinary that no scientist protested? No Freedom Fighter took this as a personal insult? No major church leader even raised his voice?
Quite apart from where one stands in any debate, be it about macro- evolution versus creation, or the existence of White Holes, or even whether the sun moves or the earth does – it is as yet unexplained why the State sees reason to intervene, in this ‘modern age’.
And by the way: Christianity may be on a sharp fall in Europe, it is still on the rise world wide. The majority of people in the world including Muslims, still adhere to a teaching of Creation. Europe has for a long time exported one evil: its colonialism and now, enlightened, exports its materialism. Again frighteningly out of sync with the rest of the world.

The Bible foretells the rise of one dominant power in the End of days. The imagery used suggests, that the empire in question is in fact returning. It was before, is not, and will be. Many speculations have been made about this empire.

Another earie notion is that this all out assault on biblical values could take place only after this part of the world had for a large part destroyed its Jewry…

It is a warrisome prospect, and yet if reality is as Apocalyptic as all that, then the rest of the prophecies stand a fair chance of being true as well.

And that is fair prospect, to say the least.
